Job Title: Business Development Representative

Job Duration: Temporary to Hire

Pay Rate: $18.00-$24.00/hour

Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm

Location: Huntley, IL

Job Description: 

  • Sales
    • Actively researches potential leads from business directories, web searches, or digital resources, make multiple calls to potential customers, send communications, and make contact
    • Manages leads (trade show, marketing, et al), perform limited focus cold calling and escalate if necessary
    • Manages inbound leads (from digital campaigns, tradeshows, E-commerce, etc.) by pre-qualifying them based on appropriateness and financial soundness. If warranted, direct the lead to appropriate area
    • Provides quotations of products requested with standard limits
    • Continuous follow through with presenting and delivering information to potential customers, answering questions with follow-up calls
    • Builds relationships by understanding client needs (before they do) and offering solutions and support. Upsell and cross-sell
    • Creates and maintains and accurate and up to date list/profile/database of prospect and current customers (eg. ERP, CRM)
    • Purposeful continuous communication with accounts, including but not limited to, asking for the order, asking for new projects to quote or spec, asking for extended contacts
  • Customer Services
    • Actively process orders
    • Proactively respond to RFQ’s and product questions. Escalate if necessary to engineering including general email box RFQ’s. Offer cross-sell and up sell options
    • Organizes and leads product presentations, remote “lunch and learns”, to grow business at existing accounts, new product roll outs
    • Respond to inquiries on orders and invoices
    • Manages complaints professionally-escalate if necessary to appropriate department
    • Continuous communication with accounts, including but not limited to, follow up on previous RFQ and project conversations, provide updates on orders
    • Provides support to accounts owned by outside Sales team


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – able to call, connect and interact with potential new customers
  • Comfortable making focused cold calls, follow up calls and talking to new people all date
  • Experience working with Epicor preferred
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing industries required, with working knowledge of automation industries preferred
  • Persuasive and goal-oriented
  • Energetic, friendly demeanor
  • Self-motivated and self-directed, and able to work independently or as an active member of a team
  • Abel to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Tenacity to handle rejection and continue with a positive attitude with reaching out to the next customer
  • Knowledge of sales process from initiation to close
